Anastasia’s Garden

A new year is nearly upon us, which is a good time to celebrate with a  brilliantly refreshing cocktail, Anastasia’s Garden. Flavours of sweet  strawberries and fragrant basil combine with premium vodka and some carbonation  to dance on your tongue. Pressing refresh never tasted so good.

Ingredients

1oz Russian Standard vodka

4 basil leaves

3 ripe strawberries

3oz soda (or champagne)

Garnish with a basil leaf

Method

Cut the tops off the strawberries and place directly into a glass. Give the  basil leaves a smack to awaken them and place on top of the strawberries. Muddle  until the berries are all pressed. Fill with ice and pour in the vodka. Top with  soda or champagne and stir gently. Place a basil leaf or sprig for garnish.  Enjoy!

Tips

The carbonation not only gives your taste buds some fun, it also helps  release the fresh fruit and herb aromas.

If using a champagne, choose a dry or Brut champagne. Another substitution is  sparkling white wine

June is often a busy month for wed-dings. I, too, will be at the altar this June on the way to my own happily ever after.

In recognition of all the happy couples tying the knot, I would like to introduce you to a signature wedding cocktail. Smooth vodka and a splash of cherry fruit flavour mix nicely with bubbles.

Ingredients

1 oz. Russian Standard Vodka

1 oz. Bols Cherry Brandy

3 oz. Sprite Cherry for a garnish

Method

Simply pour all ingredients into a glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a cherry on a pick.

Tips

This drink is quick and simple to make, which is important at a wedding because the bar can become flooded with guests all at once. Having a signature drink that is easy to make can help cut down on long lineups.

To add a bit more elegance to the cocktail, you can replace the Sprite with sparkling white wine or Champagne.

Midnight Kiss

The holidays are wrapping up and it’s almost time to count down to the new year. Kiss the past goodbye and start 2012 with a cheer to all that the new year has in store.

Playful bubbles bounce on your tongue while the strong spirit of vodka unites with notes of light orange in the Midnight Kiss cocktail.

Midnight Kiss

Ingredients:

1 oz. Russian Standard Vodka

5oz. Champagne or Sparkling White Wine

1/2 oz. Bols Blue Liqueur

White sugar

Method:

Wet the rim of a champagne flute with a slice of lemon and then rim with sugar.  Pour Russian Standard Vodka into the bottom and then slowly fill with champagne or sparkling white wine.  Top with the Bols Blue Liqueur.

Tips:

You can prepare the glasses with a sugar rim ahead of time and leave them in the fridge to chill. Leaving the vodka in the freezer is a nice touch to keep the drink colder longer.
