Orange DreamsicleOrange Dreamsicle

The number of flavoured vodkas has been increasing over the years, and it seems that any flavour you can dream of is now available.

Our cocktail of the week features whipped cream flavoured vodka. Yes, whipped-cream vodka! By combining the sweet taste of whipped cream, tropical pineapple, and fruity orange, we get a sensational drink. The Orange Dreamsicle. A simple and sweet dessert martini.

Ingredients

1 oz Pinnacle Whipped Vodka

2 oz orange juice

2 oz pineapple juice

Garnish with half an orange wheel

Method

Ice a martini glass and set aside while making the drink. In a shaker filled with ice, pour in all the ingredients. Shake vigorously. Discard the ice from the martini glass. Strain the shaken mix into the now chilled glass. Place the orange garnish on the rim.

Tips

When using juices, always use ones Not From Concentrate when possible. The saying, “The better quality the ingredients, the better tasting the end result” is true.

Downhill Racer #9

Downhill Racer #9Downhill Racer #9

Winter is a great season for many reasons and enjoying the mountains is one of them. Whether you ski or snowboard, you deserve a delicious cocktail at the end of the day.

The nine spices in Cruzan Spiced Rum – allspice, vanilla, pepper, ginger, mace, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and juniper berry – infuse it with layers of flavour. Mix it with almond liqueur and tropical fruit juice for a delicious blend perfect for winter nights.

Ingredients

1 1/4 oz Cruzan 9 Spiced Rum

3/4 oz Amaretto liqueur

2 oz pineapple juice

Method

Start by placing ice in a martini glass and putting it aside to chill while you prepare the martini. Next, pour all the ingredients into a shaker glass filled with ice and shake vigorously.

Discard the ice from the martini glass and strain shaken mixture into the now chilled glass.

Tips

This martini recipe is a variation on the original Downhill Racer, which uses white rum instead of Cruzan 9 Spiced Rum. Using the spiced rum adds more flavour profile, with the nine spices complementing the other ingredients.

1 oz Canadian Club Whisky

1/3 oz lime juice

6 raspberries

Splash of cranberry juice

Dash of Angostura Bitters

Starfruit slice for garnish (optional)

Method

Start by placing ice in a martini glass to chill while making the drink. In a shaker glass, muddle the raspberries and fill with ice.

Add remaining ingredients and shake until well mixed. Discard the ice from the martini glass and strain the shaken ingredients into the now chilled martini glass. Place the slice of starfruit on the rim for garnish.

Tips

If starfruit is not available, placing three raspberries on a pick is a nice option.

You may double strain the shaken ingredients to remove the seeds from the martini if you prefer.
